How to Easily Surprise a Mother

Buying gifts for your mom can be such a challenging task, especially if your mother claims that she doesn’t want any gifts for her birthday or any other occasion. If you’re having a hard time and you’re not entirely sure what to get her, then you might want to stick to safe options.

There are certain gifts that everybody loves, so if you don’t feel like buying something risky, then we recommend that have a look at some of these relatively safe options that your mom will absolutely love.

Toiletries

Everyone loves to pamper themselves and smell good, which means that everyone will appreciate a toiletries gift set. There’s no one way to go about this, all you need to do is to either find out which scent your mother likes, or choose a safe scent that everyone generally loves, like vanilla. You can buy lotions, creams, body sprays, bath salts, bath bombs, and essential oils. You don’t necessarily need to buy a whole set because you can easily create your own. Creating your own set will also allow you to integrate some of her favorite brands if she has any. This is why it’s so important to pay close attention to what she likes and add it to the set.

Candles

There’s nothing more relaxing than candles that smell and look good. Your mom can light them up when she’s reading before she sleeps, or when she’s taking a relaxing bath. If there are certain fragrances that she’s into then make sure you buy candles with her favorite scents. Try to purchase different kinds in terms of size, color, and shape. Variety is definitely a key factor here. Avoid getting a set that has fixed sizes, instead, purchase random candles with different scents so that your mom can try them all.

Wine Bottle

Everyone likes wine, well at least most people do! If she keeps wine bottles in the fridge, stores them in a cabinet, or is seen with a glass of wine, then it’s safe to assume that she’s into the occasional drink.  A collection of wine-related items would make an amazing gift basket for Moms who enjoy drinking different brands and flavors. You can print out a chart that explains which kinds of wine go best with fish, beef, and chicken; your mom will really appreciate the extra effort.

Handwritten Letters

There is nothing sweeter than a handwritten letter, especially if it’s from children to mothers. Your mother might reject the idea of receiving gifts from her children, but she’d never say no to a letter.

Here are a few important things that you need to remember as you write the letter; one, keep it genuine. Pour your feelings into the letter, don’t shy away from being vulnerable, and show your real emotions. Two, show gratitude and appreciation to all of her hard work, effort, and the endless love and care that she provides for you.

DIY Gifts

Speaking of handwritten letters, mothers also appreciate gifts that were made by her children. Basically, anything that you put an effort into, like a DIY gift would make an awesome gift that your mom will actually appreciate. You can’t go wrong with this one, so start brainstorming and think about wants or needs and then see if you’re capable of creating it or not. You can also integrate your talents into the gift, so if you’re a musician, think about writing her a song and play it for her. If you’re a painter then maybe paint a picture for her. You can also create plates, cups, or coasters by using clay.

Target Her Interests

You don’t have to purchase a generic gift if you don’t want to. You can get the perfect gift for your mom if you observe her long enough. However, if she’s not showing any interest in anything then maybe try to converse with her. Try to see if she is into something specific more than others. You can also ask her friends or family relatives who are close to her and know exactly what she likes. After you’ve gathered enough information, it will be that much easier to make a decision.

It’s always nice to see our mothers happy, especially when they’ve been surprised by a gift that we’ve put a lot of thought into. You can’t really go wrong with anything because she’ll love whatever you’ve gotten her just because it’s from you. However, if you want to make sure that she’ll actually use this gift, then it’s best to get her something that’s either safe or you know that she’ll like for sure.
