It can often seem as though when you’re trying to get fit and stay in shape, that there are only two options: you either go to the gym, or you head out into the world and work out there. Now, if you’re living in a city and you don’t have that much of budget to work with, this can present a couple of issues. After all, you may not be able to afford a gym membership, and you aren’t necessarily going to have the kind of environment around you where you’ve got plenty of space to stay active, both out in the city and your home. However, that doesn’t mean that you should just give up on staying in shape. Here are a few ways that you can stay active and healthy while living in the big city.
Ride your bike to work
Home workouts
If you can’t get out to the gym and there’s nowhere in your city where you can go to stay active, then why not just do it at home? There are plenty of incredibly effective workouts that you can do as long as you have a few feet of space to move around in. Heck, you can just go on Youtube and find a whole bunch of easy workouts that you can do from the comfort of your own home with little more than a yoga mat. Of course, it’s a good idea to make sure to check that you’re not causing any disturbance to your downstairs neighbors.
Sports at a local park
Pretty much any City has at least a few local parks, and many of them have access to places where you can play sports. Things like basketball and tennis courts are particularly common since they don’t need large expanses of grass in order to function. All you need to do is to buy the equipment that they don’t provide like balls and rackets. If you and a few friends can get together to play once a week, not only will you be able to stay active, but it gives you all something fun to do that isn’t necessarily going to cost you a great deal of money
