When a relationship comes to an end, it can feel like the end of the world. When you were the one blissful in love, it really can be. Even if you were the one that ended things, even though you didn’t want to, it can be really tough to move on. Sometimes, you really don’t want to. Because that’s the thing about relationships – they’re complicated. They’re never really black and white. They don’t always go how you want them to. And they’re never simple! But, when they end, you can be left devastated. Sometimes, relationships end for a reason. You want different things, you fall out of love, you move on. And that’s a shame, but it’s part of life. But that’s not always why relationships end.
Sometimes, a relationship ends for what feels like no reason at all. Sometimes, you’re fighting or there’s something between you that you can’t always work out. And that can feel really tough. Because it seems like things are over for no reason! It’s at times like this that you can really question yourself. You can constantly ask yourself what’s going on, or whether there’s something that you didn’t try. And while this can make your head feel like a mess, if you really do think that there’s still a chance for you, then you need to try, right? Here’s how to do it.
Understand Why You Broke Up
The first step here, is to really understand why you broke up in the first place. Because a lot of the time, you can be in denial. This is often the case when you’re really not convinced that this is for the best. You then have to be sure that you are aware of what went wrong, so that you get your girlfriend back in the right way. So be real with yourself, and be sure that you’re ready to face up with what’s happening.
Work Out If You’re On The Same Page
From there, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re both on the same page. Because if you want to make it work and she wants to move on, you have a problem. So just make sure that she wants to make it work too before you get your hopes up about giving it another go.

Know What You Want In A Relationship
To help you make it work the second time around, or even work out whether you need to move on, you should identify what it is that you really want from a relationship. Because if what you want isn’t something that your ex-partner can offer you, then you have a problem. But if you know that your ex-partner is everything you want, you have grounds for making it work.
Focus On Communication
When you do start to think about giving it another go – or even broaching the topic, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re really working on your communication. Because if you’re not really talking to each other or expressing your emotions in a healthy way, you could just be walking back into the same old issues again.
Build Up Trust & Respect
Then, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re prioritizing trust and honesty. If there have been issues with this in the past, you really have to be sure that you can build up that trust again. But you do also have to be able to respect each other. If you can’t, you may find it hard to make it work again.
Really Try
This may seem obvious, but you have to really work at this and want this. A lot of the time you’re going to need to revive your relationships. So make sure that you’re going on dates and really enjoying your time together. You want to be fresh about this, and not find yourself in the same old patterns again.
Be Patient
But most importantly of all, you have to really realize that this is going to take time. If you’ve been experiencing troubles for a long time, there’s not got to be a quick fix. As you’re working through the ideas above, you will realize that you have to be really patient with everything that you’re doing. You have to be sure that you’re doing the right thing by trying to make it work. And that takes time. So be patient with each other, because if you’re going to be able to make it work, you have to trust in the process.
