What’s Your Travel Inspiration?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of U.S. Cellular. The opinions and text are all mine

I often look back at the trips I took with my parents and grandmother as a child, those random weeks and weekends away from home, exploring the world within Colorado and beyond. These adventures became apart of my life, and memories I will cherish forever, becoming my inspiration to continue travelling to this day. I think back to those lasting memories of mine, from exploring Cape Canaveral with my grandmother to seeing the cherry blossoms in Washington D.C.

I count myself lucky, and realize that the inspiration to travel is often shared, but the ability is not. Lacking the time and opportunity to travel, millions of people miss out on the adventures and memory building times with family and friends. So when I heard that U.S. Cellular teamed up with The Food Network and Travel Channel to empower those who have not have the opportunity to take these meaningful trips, to finally visit the places and destinations they’ve always dreamed of seeing, I couldn’t help but share.

Watching the first episode, I couldn’t help but feel inspired to see more as I watched Julius take on the sites and sounds of the Big Apple for the first time. It’s an incredible reaction to see his joy and amazement as he saw the city for the first time, knowing this is one of the first vacations he had taken. I mean honestly, who wouldn’t want to see NYC from a helicopter, and for their first trip, its definitely a lasting memory. I think that might be the biggest inspiration, the main focus of it all.

I have been around the world and seen some incredible sites and met amazing people, and the lasting memories are what keep pushing me forward, to experience all I can in this short time I have, to share the time, and to see U.S. Cellular bring that opportunity to a few more lucky people is pretty heartwarming. Looking at my next few months of travel, most are for work, keeping me indoors and away from the incredible sites that make the various cities wonderful, but after seeing Julius take in NYC for that short time, I am inspired to really make the most of my coming time away from home, to take in all I can, even if it is for a short period.

For those looking to take that memorable adventure, U.S. Cellular is also holding an online open casting call for the 5th episode, where you and your readers can nominate another deserving U.S. Cellular customer to star in the season finale of Big Country, which is hosted by one of my favorite Food Network chefs, Andrew Zimmern. The first episode is below, and be sure to tune in to watch the latest episode of Big Country on The Travel Channel and Food Network, and online at http://www.travelchannel.com/bigcountry.
