4 Ways to Improve Your Mornings

Mornings aren’t automatically pleasant. If you’re tired, in a rush to get to work, and generally wishing that you could have simply stayed in bed all day, then mornings will feel hugely inconvenient — and have probably earned a reputation for being your least favorite part of the day.

However, while you may never love mornings, it’s worthwhile working to make them more enjoyable. Having a morning that you enjoy — or at least don’t hate — can set you up for the day, helping to put you in the right frame of mind you need to make things happen.

And happily, transforming yourself into a morning person is easier to achieve than you might think. In this post, we’ll run through a few handy tips that should change how you experience your mornings.

Mornings

Get Up Earlier

The idea of getting up earlier can seem insane. After all, one of the most frustrating elements of the morning is having to get out of bed in the first place! However, there are good reasons for setting your alarm significantly earlier. It’ll give you the additional time you need to enjoy a slow, unrushed start to the day, during which you can do breathwork, meditation, or do some reading — and that makes it much easier to feel calm and happy when you actually leave your house.

Go For a Run

To people who have never done it, going for a run as soon as you wake up will sound ridiculous. But once you’ve done it? You’ll realize what all the fuss is about. It’s one of the most effective ways to give yourself a healthy dose of alertness, and you’ll also release plenty of endorphins (the feelgood chemical). If you can’t stomach the thought of putting on your running shoes and going for a jog, then consider another activity that’ll wake up the body and mind, such as an at-home workout or 15-30 minutes of yoga.

Enjoy a Delicious Breakfast

Eating is one of life’s pleasures, yet while people put effort into ensuring their lunch and dinner meals are delicious, people don’t put quite as much care into their breakfast. And we think that’s wrong. After all, a great breakfast isn’t just a treat for your lips — it’ll also provide the energy you need to tackle the day with gusto. Look at preparing yourself an energy-boosting, delicious breakfast, and fill your cupboards with blueberry coffee pods so that you always have access to a great cup of joe. You’ll find that it’s much easier to get out of bed when you know you have a delicious meal waiting for you.

Change Your Commute

Finally, have a think about how you’re getting to work: is it elevating your spirit, or making you miserable? If it’s the latter, then look at making some changes. You might find that you not only tolerate but actually enjoy your commute if you get to work by bicycle or if you find a different, more scenic route to work that has less traffic.
