Don’t Let These 3 Things Derail Your Health & Fitness Goals

You started 2019 with a clear goal in mind. You don’t have to tell us what it is. You just have to visualize it in your head. Was it to ditch that persistent wobbly matter that’s been lurking around your midriff? Is it to gain more muscle mass so that you feel stronger and more formidable? Is it to get in the best shape of your life so you need never again see your life flash before your eyes when you need to ascend a long flight of stairs? Whatever your fitness goals, there’s a simple truth that all must realize… the world is actively working against you to derail your progress and see you fall short of your goals. If you don’t want to find yourself seeing in march with a “Meh, maybe next year!”, it’s in your best interest to avoid these things which could derail your progress…

The wrong gym

Many of us will have started the year by joining a gym. In fact 12% of gym members signed up in January. While joining a gym is a great way to put a positive plan in action, it’s simply not enough to join any old gym. When you’re trying to find a gym you must also ensure that it’s the right gym for you and your needs. WIll it be open in the hours you’ll have free to work out? There’s no point mustering the energy to start the day with a 5am workout if your gym won’t be open. Will it give you access to classes or the use of a Personal Trainer to keep you motivated. The right gym can see you make the best possible start on your fitness goals. The wrong gym, however, can simply waste your money and erode your motivation.

Cravings

If you started the new year on a health kick, it’s entirely possible that your every other waking thought is occupied by cream cakes and pizza. Cravings are sadly inevitable whenever we eliminate a food group from our diet (especially something as addictive as sugar) or significantly reduce our caloric intake.

First of all, if you’re dropped your calories to 1,000-1,200 a day as is necessitated by many dubious detoxes and cleanses, you’re not getting anywhere near enough calories and your every thought will be plagues with cravings. Sticking to the 80/20 rule (80% healthy eating and 20% indulgences) will help you to better manage your cravings without derailing your progress.

Failing to track your progress

It’s hard to stay motivated at the best of times. Yet, when you feel as though your hard work, effort and discipline aren’t paying off it can be virtually impossible to maintain your motivation. A fitness tracker can be invaluable in making it quick and easy to track your progress and keep the flame of motivation alive. Remember that your progress may not always be visible to the naked eye, and even when it is, you’re usually the last person to perceive it because you see your own body every day.

It’s also worth mentioning that it’s important to complement exercising with regular visits to a physician and a dental expert like this dentist in Vienna. Doing so will ensure that you’re physically healthy to reach your fitness goals.
