Trails to Consider For Your Next Walking Holiday

There is a walking holiday on Earth for everyone, whether you like a short morning stroll, a day trip, or a week-long trek across a country. But with so many fantastic walking routes available around the world, how do you decide where to go? Let’s take a look at some of the best trails in the world, that will be perfect for your next walking holiday.

The benefits of Walking

One of the simplest and most affordable ways to increase activity levels, reduce weight, and improve your health is to go for a walk. Even though it’s frequently disregarded as an exercise, walking quickly can improve your stamina and strength, burn extra calories, and improve the condition of your heart. You are not required to walk for several hours as a brisk 10-minute daily stroll contributes to the necessary 150 minutes of weekly exercise that is recommended by the NHS! Walking doesn’t have to stop whilst you are on holiday, in fact it is an excellent way to get out and see some of the beautiful views and landmarks that your selected destination has to offer! Just because you are away doesn’t mean you should stop your usual hobbies – and walking holidays are no exception!

Walking trails to add to your holiday list

The Inca Trail, Peru – This trail is 45km and will take you roughly 4 days to complete. A testing but manageable hike, this is a camping only trail so make sure you have your tent ready!

El Circuito, Chili – Depending on how fast you walk and how many stops you make, you can expect to spend 7-10 days hiking this trail, as it is a substantial 130km long. Although the walk itself may not be the toughest, being out in the wilderness for such a long period of time is tough both physically and mentally, so it is recommended to do this on a guided tour to have the best experience possible.

Pati Valley, Brazil – This can be easily completed in one day as it is only a short 15km long, and is a relatively easy trail with only a few steep sections. Make sure you grab an ice-cold beer at the end as a reward! The Silver Trail, Mexico – If you really fancy a challenge then this could be the trail for you. Not recommended for an inexperienced or independent walker, this trail takes you through Batopilas Canyon and beyond. Expect the hike to be hot, and as there are no facilities you will need to camp throughout the trip. Stretching an impressive 160Km, this is not one for the faint-hearted – but is certainly worth it for those who dare to give it a go.
