Step-by-Step Korean Skincare Routine

The popularity of the Korean skincare routine is fantastic. People from all over the world want to have skin just like the Korean drama and music idols they see on TV. And we can’t blame them. Looking at photos of Korean celebrities, you’ll notice that they have flawless and perfect skin. That made people wonder what Koreans do to make their skin look so good. Hence, the emergence of a Korean skincare trend.

Korean beauty products are used by millions of people from around the globe. You’re probably here because you want to jump into the Korean skincare trend. We’ve broken down the essential steps of their skincare routine to help you get started.

Step 1: Cleanse with an oil-based product

The base of a Korean skincare routine is oil cleansers. They help calm and relax the skin and also remove makeup and other dirt accumulated during the day.

Step 2: Cleanse with a water-based product

As you may have noticed, there are two cleansing steps. This is what Koreans call the “double-cleanse.” Dermatologists and beauty experts recommend this method because it’s an extra effort to remove any impurities, dirt, and acne-causing bacteria in the face. It’s an additional line of defense because it helps remove what your oil-based cleanser missed.

Step 3: Exfoliate

Exfoliation is the perfect way to unleash your skin’s natural glow and brightness. It removes dead skin cells and allows products to penetrate the skin better, maximizing their effects.

Step 4: Use a toner

Your skin is like a sponge. For it to effectively absorb all the products, you need to repair your skin’s barrier with a toner. Toners are the best products to prep your skin before applying essentials like moisturizers and creams.

Step 5: Apply essence

Have you ever wondered why Korean women look like they never age? That’s because they add a unique step- applying essence. They consider this as the heart of their skincare routine. Essences have a whole combo of benefits such as hydrating, anti-aging, and complexion-enhancing.

Step 6: Apply treatments

This is where all the fun begins. After preparing your skin to absorb essential ingredients, it’s now ready for serums, ampoules, and boosters. These products are the ones that target specific skin concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, etc. Find treatments that address your needs.

Step 7: Applying a sheet mask

Sheet masks are considered as a must in the Korean skincare routine. By applying it and letting it sit for several minutes, the prolonged contact helps your skin absorb essential nutrients and moisture.

Step 8: Apply eye cream

Of all the areas on your face, the skin under your eyes is the thinnest and most delicate. That’s why they need special attention in a skincare routine. Applying eye cream will help in preventing dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles.

Step 9: Moisturize

Korean women are known for their glowing, glass-like skin. This is thanks to their use of moisturizers. You can choose any moisturizer you want, whether it be a cream, gel, or lotion.

Step 10: Apply sunscreen

Last but not least, sunscreen. The powerful UV rays from the sun are causing a lot of damage to the skin. This should be your final step because it’s the shield that will protect your skin from harmful elements.

These steps might be too much. But this extensive routine is exactly how Korean women get and maintain the amazing flawless skin they have now. It can be seen that patience and diligence are all you need for the great skin you’ve always wanted.
