Steak It To Dad

Father’s Day is coming, and you have forgotten. It happens to the best of us, and honestly, will continue to happen. And while some of us will scramble to save the day with some cheap bottle of whiskey, or a pack of beers and a half assed card, none of those feel up to the task of making up for you being, well, you, and him having to not kill you. We’ve said it before, and we will say it again; Dad deserves a bit more than that for not leaving you at school after you got your first (or seventh – whose counting?) detention. (Thanks again, Dad).

So let’s talk what can be done, bring a solution to the table. Your gift needs to not only say ‘Thank you’ but say ‘I am your favorite’, and when I think of that gift, I think steak. Delicious, melt in your mouth steak. They say the way to man’s heart is their stomach, so why would it not work from the kid to the dad? And while you could go out and pick up some grocery store cut of prime rib from the big box grocer, it just wouldn’t truly deliver the same impact as something a bit more special.

Well, luckily there is amazing and delicious solution to all these problems courtesy of Snake River Farms and their special gift box of steaks that can be shipped direct to your home. There are not any ordinary, packaged steaks like those from a city in Nebraska that rhymes with Nomaha. No, these are top grade from the same company that supplies to elite restaurants like The French Laundry, Per Se, CUT and Craft Steak to name a few. And they are delicious. And you’re not just getting one cut of these delicious steaks, but a variety that could bring any hungry man to happy tears. Packed inside the gift box of meaty awesomness are 2 bacon-wrapped filet mignon, 2 american Kobe ribeye filets, 1 Cowboy Chop bone-in ribeye, 2 top-sirloin filets, and 1 jar of espresso brava sea salt. It really is everything you need.

Quality wise, there is no contest to these steaks for the value. Cooking up the Kobe ribeye filets on the grill flat top, coated with the espresso brava sea salt and some fresh ground pepper, this steak just seared perfectly. Bringing it to a perfect medium rare, the char from the sear sealed in the juices, with the salt and pepper bringing this smokey flavor to each bite, enhancing the steak completely. And while I did cook it up with the light spices, you honestly would not need it the steak was so good.

Cut inside, the marbling of the Kobe ribeye filet was incredible (so much so, I forgot to take a photo), with no heavy amounts of fat getting in the way of any bite, but enough trapped and cooked inside to bring the deep, meat tones of the ribeye out. And paired with a simple side, in this case broccoli and cheese and some bread, this dinner is not fancy, but still fit for the best dad.

With 7 individual steaks in each gift box, along with the incredible espresso brava salt, it might be time to rethink that crappy bottle of beer you got your old man, and upgrade him to the steak he deserves.
