How to get ready for a date

If you’ve been focusing on raising your dating game and have secured yourself a date, congratulations! Navigating the world of dating is more difficult than ever before in the age of dating apps and ‘tinder swindler’ types.

If you’re feeling the pre-date jitters, we’ve put together some top tips to help you feel as cool as a cucumber for your big date.

Look the part

Picking out a great outfit can help you feel more confident in your own skin. And if you look and feel good, you’re far more likely to have a better date as a result!

When you’ve chosen your restaurant, movie or place for a drink, it’s a good idea to go shopping for an outfit so that you can put your best foot forward.  Once you’ve found your trouser, shirt and shoe combo, pull the look together with accessories such as men’s diamond earrings

Hit the gym

If you’re partial to a workout, you might want to consider hitting the gym before your date. Not only will you feel more confident, by getting in a workout, you’ll help get rid of the pre-date jitters by releasing feel-good hormones.

Try to relax

Although feeling calm and composed might sound easier said than done, it’s important to get hold of your nerves before you set off on your date. If you’re feeling too nervous, you’re unlikely to be on top form, so it’s always worth taking the time to compose yourself!

On the way to your date, to help calm your nerves, you might want to listen to music to help you switch off. Alternatively, why not stick on a podcast and engross yourself in some sport or true crime?

If that’s not done the trick, try to take deep breaths and remember that if this date doesn’t go as well as you’d hoped, there are plenty more fish in the sea!

Get into social mode

If time allows, to help get you in the mood for schmoozing, it can be a good idea to meet up with a friend beforehand. Not only can they offer you some support, but you can also practice your conversation topics with them before the big event.

If that’s not an option, simply getting into the swing of things by going for a quick drink beforehand can get you in the right headspace.

Final thoughts…

Navigating the dating game can be daunting, especially if you’ve been out of the dating game for quite some time. However, the good news is that by taking a few simple steps to boost your confidence and calm your nerves, you’re almost certain to secure yourself a second date.

So now all that’s left to do is go out and have fun!
