Driving – The Ultimate Indulgence?

Most of us drive because we have to. We need to get the kids to school, head to work. Drive to the store to get groceries, and on the list goes. Much of what we don’t tend to love in life is the stuff we have no choice but to do.

But driving, without the need to – just because you want, is a different animal. In fact, when you are alone in the car or heading somewhere just with buddies – because you want to, it is the ultimate in luxury. 

Music

If you are a music lover, then you will know that there isn’t as much as enjoyable as sitting surrounded by speakers listening to your music. Some people are okay with the radio – but in order to make it a trip personal to you, the chances are you have curated the perfect playlist. Driving country lanes, in the summer sunshine, AC keeping you cool and your music pouring into the car? Bliss.

No Rush

Unless you are driving because you have booked last minute tickets to an event, then you won’t care what the time is. You can drive in the fast lane, the truck lane, or take all of the B routes. Much of the frustration of driving is the need to be somewhere at a set time. 

Throw that out the window and what you have is the luxury of not caring. 

Protection

If you go on holiday, you have travel insurance and are covered for that time. With a car, you are covered all the time. The more you drive, the more you are making use of those monthly payments. You have full protection at all times. As well as, if you are smart, full breakdown and recovery. It always pays for you to learn how far your protection stretches, and what to do after a truck accident or another type of collision. 

Random Stops

If you have the time, you can stop anywhere you like – well, anywhere safely. To take photos, to make notes, to have a coffee and soak in some fresh air. Although you should really stop every few hours so that you don’t get too tired, if you don’t have to arrive anywhere at a set time, you can really exploit the journey. 

Coming Home

One of the big joys of leaving somewhere is to go home. After a long drive, even one that has been enjoyable – there is a deep sense of satisfaction in coming back. The more often you are away, the more you will appreciate the moment you step foot through the door. 

Driving provides you with a type of freedom that is rarely enjoyed to its maximum potential, but if you have the opportunity to take a road trip – just because, you’ll see that driving is the ultimate indulgence.
