Bringing a Little Fun Tech to the Home Office

Like many that work from home, my office is a bit of a sanctuary, a room to dive into whatever project I have at the moment from photo editing to the latest article. And with that, I like to ensure whatever is in there is very utilitarian. While the bookshelf sitting behind my desk is covered in books and mementos from adventures and experiences, my desk is fairly bare aside from what I actually need to get my work done.

But that doesn’t mean there is no room for a little fun piece of tech that can actually improve my working experience. Enter the Divoom® Aurabox, this awesome little LED Bluetooth box that has become a great tool for my everyday work.

Now, this isn’t some little gimmick piece of tech designed to entertain, and while it does have a bit of that factor associated with it, I am more inclined to use this for productivity in my day-to-day. This little Bluetooth box is packed with everything from hands-free calling to a clock all the way to a notification manager, things I actually use every day. Most helpful has been the notification manager as I work with my headphones in most the day, it gives me that quick visual reference to that call I am about to miss. Even better is when I am using the AuraBox as my speakerphone, it will still notify me of incoming messages without interrupting the conversation. That’s a win-win for me.

There are often times when I am sharing the space with Emily as well, and to not be rude, I’ll play some music over the AuraBox instead of hiding behind my headphones. The lights will dance along with the beat of the music, bringing a bit of a visual distraction during the day-to-day. And in keeping with my desire to keep a clean desk, I especially love the fact that it is rechargeable and does not require a cord for even a full day’s use. Now that is a nice piece of tech.

All in all, on the outside the Divoom® Aurabox may seem like a weird piece of tech, but for my day-to-day, it has become a welcome, fun item that is both entertaining and useful.
