BBQ 101: The Only Guide You Need For A Fabulous Feast

Barbeque season is upon us, and what better time to brush up on some grilling basics? If you’re planning to invite friends and family over for a feast in the coming days or weeks, this infographic is bound to come in handy.

The number one priority for every budding BBQ king or queen is choosing the right BBQ. With gas and charcoal barbeques on offer and a vast range of styles and sizes, it pays to explore different options and compare prices. Gas is quick and easy, while charcoal provides that unique, smoky taste. Once you’ve selected your tools, focus on the cooking technique. Take your time, have patience, and take the meat out of the fridge around 20 minutes before you plan to throw it on the grill.

When you’re barbequing, keep a close eye on the meat, and check the temperature. You want the outer surfaces to be charred and well-done, but you don’t want to overcook the meat, or find that it’s raw inside. It’s particularly important to make sure you cook chicken just right. Use utensils like long-handled spatulas and tongs to turn steaks and chicken pieces without burning your fingers.

Flavor is everything when you’re hosting an al fresco feast, so take time to marinade the meat and add herbs and spices to provide a kick.

Even the most professional, experienced BBQ chefs could do with a hand from time to time, so don’t hesitate to appoint a second-in-command and somebody to help you prep the table and get the sauces, salads, and condiments ready.
