A Blessing And A Curse: New Styles For Your Long Hair If You Don’t Know What To Do With It

Our long hair can be a blessing and a burden. While we may struggle to take care of it because it’s so unkempt, on the other hand, it can feel like we are Samson- get rid of it and we lose our powers! And while, once upon a time, long hair was the do favored by skateboarders, surfers, and rock gods only, it’s now an incredibly fashionable style. But when you have the luxury of long luxurious locks it can be difficult to maintain or sometimes you might struggle to find the right style. But let’s make this easy for you! Here are some long hairstyles for any man to make their own!

The Man Bun

The man bun haircut is a modern classic. It’s an incredibly versatile style. The great thing is that it’s flattering on a universal scale. And while some may have their reservations as to the efficacy of the man bun the great thing about it is that you can alter it according to your face shape. But there are so many different questions to ask. How high or low should you wear the bun? And what point does it look more like a ponytail rather than a bun? It all depends on the length of your hair. But if you are looking to play with it, firstly, put the bun just below the crown of your head. Leave some hair curling out at the nape of your neck. This will create a very loose and slightly messy, yet stylish, man bun. But if you have a very defined bone structure you can wear the man bun as slickly as you want.

Long And Wavy

Arguably this is the Harry Styles look at the moment, the approach to long and textured waves makes you look a little bit down and out, but with layers of dimension. The great thing about this type of look is that regardless of your face shape, it will suit you. This specific style features a deconstructed pompadour with medium textured waves. It’s a very simple style to replicate. All you need to do is put some styling mousse to your damp hair and scrunch liberally. Leave it to dry and then lightly backcomb it.

Slick Back

If you have been considering the Kit Harrington look, the great thing is that it’s so easy to do. Regardless of your thickness, you can make it your own. It’s also a great style to go with streetwear or even a tailored suit. And not to worry if you’ve got curly or textured hair, all you need to do is add a little bit more mousse to keep the hold. Rough and ready, it’s the perfect way to keep the hair out of your eyes first thing in the morning!

Long Braids

A very bold look! While they are incredibly unique and stylish they are also versatile. Regardless of the event, be it a wedding party or demure affair, you can make braids as little or as eye-catching as you want. If you want to tone it down you can wear your hair in one loose plait at the back of your head. Or if you’re looking to make a bigger impact you can make many tight braids going from the scalp working all the way through to the back. The great thing about a long braid that it works well with a man bun, or even a ponytail if you want that authentic Thor look!

Long Hair With Part

Center or side parting, wherever you want it, the key is about having a very sharp line before running the fingers through the ends. As striking as this style is, it can take quite a lot of maintenance. Likewise, it’s also something that doesn’t work well when you are out on the beach. This doesn’t lend well to a windswept look! Be sure to have some pomade or mousse ready! If you have soft features and textured hair, the side parting is the best option.

Long hair can be a blessing and a curse, and when there are so many different styles out there it’s not only confusing but no doubt there are plenty of people that have been telling you to cut your hair for so long! If your long hair is your identity and you’ve been feeling the temptation to cut it because you don’t know what to do with it anymore, take inspiration from these styles and let your hair flow wild and free!
