2015 Dodge Durango Citadel AWD

The highest ranking version in the entire Durango line-up, the Citadel AWD, not only is the best equipped when it comes to trim level and options, but is also the spearhead model in the mid-size SUV category. What attributes does it have to propel it to the prime spot? In one word, all of them or, if you’re a bit more pretentious, almost all of them.

Visually, the 2015 Dodge Durango Citadel AWD features an ample grille, flanked by a pair of slim, HID headlamps. A typical SUV silhouette characterizes it, but the supple shoulders and peculiar shape of the rear window make it stand out. As part of the Citadel trim level, the grille, mirror caps, roof rails, door handles and side strakes are all chrome plated, adding a dash of premium to the already visually impressive vehicle. 20-inch aluminum polished wheels, wrapped in wide section all season tires, complete the appearance package.

The Durango’s cabin is among the biggest and most spacious in its entire class, allowing up to seven occupants inside, be it adults or children. The third row of seats, usually reserved for children, is large enough to be comfortably used by adults, an appreciable realization from behalf of Dodge. Continuing the premium theme outside, the cabin also features numerous chrome trim pieces, while supple leather covers the seats, the central console and door panels. LED lights illuminate the interior at night, providing a select ambiance, while the heated front and second-row seats add to the overall appeal of the vehicle. As part of the Climate Control package, tri-zone automatic temp control and rear air conditioning with heating ensure your well-being your companions through summer or winter.

The Durango Citadel AWD is powered by a 295 horsepower 3.6 liter V6 connected to an eight-speed transmission, with all-wheel drive traction. As expected, the SUV’s “utility” part makes itself noticed during heavy duty conditions, as the drivetrain is more than capable to haul significant loads, be it inside or outside the vehicle regardless of the weather conditions. A 6.500 lbs tow rating, alongside a trailer sway damping system confirms Dodge’s commitment to its customers, while the fuel economy figures range between 17 miles per gallon in the city and more than 24 miles per gallon on the highway.
